Local organizations team up to bridge the digital divide in Atlanta

ATLANTA, May 16, 2016 — ADAPTURE Technology Group has entered into a partnership with PowerMyLearning to offer Atlanta students access to learning technology. Representatives from the two organizations have made plans to provide laptops to elementary and middle school students in low-income families from the Greater Atlanta area.

PowerMyLearning is a nonprofit organization that works to enhance the educational environment through technological support for teachers, students and parents. One of its programs distributes home technology resources to low-income families so students can meet the demands of high academic standards. ADAPTURE is now assisting with sustaining the program.

“ADAPTURE has been a great partner in supporting our mission monetarily and through its services,” said Richard Hicks, Director of Technology and Operations for PowerMyLearning Greater Atlanta Region. “Through their monetary donations as well as donation of laptops, we are working to bridge the digital divide.”

The laptops are used for educational purposes such as accessing PowerMyLearning Connect, a free K-12 platform that provides personalized instruction and self-direct learning in all subjects. This year the program impacted over 1,800 parents, students and teachers in the Greater Atlanta Region.

“Partnering with PowerMyLearning was a great fit for ADAPTURE,” said Gary Humphrey, Vice President of Sales at ADAPTURE. “Successful educational outcomes, specifically in low-income families, is important to us. We were looking for an organization to support that focuses on technology and education so we are excited about taking this first step towards a long term relationship.”

Long-term support through the partnership with ADAPTURE will assist with efforts to impact more schools and students. As the program expands, more technology resources will be available in the homes to aid in learning.
